Op 26 oktober 2022 promoveerde J.L. Wolf aan de Erasmus Universiteit te Rotterdam op het proefschrift, getiteld ‘Augmenting the power of small biopsies in thoracic oncology by the use of state-of-the-art ancillary techniques’. Het promotietraject werd geïnitieerd en begeleid door dr. J.H. von der Thüsen (copromotor, afdeling Pathologie, Erasmus MC) samen met dr. D. Mustafa (copromotor, Erasmus MC), waarbij prof. dr. J.M. Kros (afdeling Pathologie, Erasmus MC) als promotor optrad. De belangrijkste bevindingen worden hieronder uiteengezet.
